Einfachster Weg zu Make Lecker Gallo pinto

Lecker, frisch und Gesund.

Gallo pinto. Authentic Gallo Pinto isn't a very saucy rice dish (actually, some families choose to cook it until it's a bit crisp on the edges). Gallo Pinto translates as "painted rooster", and is a dish eaten by many Costa Ricans almost every day. Consisting of rice and beans as a base, gallo pinto has a long history and is important to various Latin American cultures.

Gallo pinto It is typically made with leftover rice. Served with sliced french bread and sour cream to dip the bread in. You could top it off with a mild pico de gallo and compliment with Salsa Lizano (a vegetable sauce made in Costa Rica).

Rice and beans are served at every single meal in Nicaragua. It's either rice and beans, or riceandbeans, otherwise known as gallopinto ("red rooster," though friends and I used to call it "painted rooster" due to odd translations and plain old foolishness). The name alludes to the color of the mixture of white rice and small red kidney beans, which mirrors that of the king of the coop. But what I think made (makes) gallo pinto delicious was (is) the addition of onion, cilantro, tomato, and peppers, lightly cooked on the griddle, and mixed into the 'refried' rice and beans.

And also that, in Costa Rica, the beans were (are?) generally cooked with spices (cilantro, sage, oregano, onion, garlic, peppers, etc.). Make up small batches of Gallo Pinto when you want it by simply sautéing them together. A tablespoon or so of salsa Lizano is highly recommended to the beans while they're cooking.
